BRIGHT HERBS, FRESH BREAD, YOGURT, SAFFRON, ROSEWATER, NUTS, AND SPICE.

This café carries forward the spirit of Sofreh, the Brooklyn restaurant created by chef Nasim Alikhani. What began as a deeply personal expression of Persian hospitality has grown into a place where food, culture, and community gather naturally around the table.

Nasim’s cooking draws from the flavors she grew up with and the traditions that shaped them. Bright herbs, saffron, citrus, yogurt, nuts, and spice appear throughout the menu in dishes that feel layered, comforting, and full of character. Her approach to Persian cooking is also captured in her cookbook, Sofreh: A Contemporary Approach to Classic Persian Cuisine, where she shares both recipes and the spirit of the sofreh itself.

In Persian culture, a sofreh is the cloth laid on the table for gathering, eating, and welcoming others in.

Sofreh Café continues that idea in a more everyday rhythm. Coffee and chai in the morning. Breakfast that slowly becomes lunch. Plates arriving at the table and conversation unfolding around them. Whether you join us for a meal, take something with you, or gather a group around platters, the intention remains the same. Food that brings people together.
